How befitting that after I have been to two amazing, life changing weddings (not just for the couple but for me as well). I am now embarking on a series of one acts by Israel Horowitz at the Firehouse Theatre May 14,15, and 16th here in Richmond, VA. Mr.Horowitz himself will grace us fellow actors with his presence on one of those nights! It is my final farewell series of performances before I embark on what will be one of my biggest journies in my life...no not getting married; but relocating to pursue even more opportunity with acting, moving to LA.
The very apri po one act, that I have the priviledge of playing the character Roz, is titled The Bridal Dance. Once again, I am not the bride but a guest. A single guest who decided that taking a date is better than going alone. Unfortunately my character has not realized the essential freedom one must have when going stag to a wedding. So many great things can come of it! And here are my top five reasons:
1. You could meet someone better than your current date
2. No awkwardness when love is in the air and you are not! Esp during those slow dances....or catching the
bouquet
3. You catch the bouquet! And then get a garter put on you....fingers crossed... by a sexy single groomsman!
4. Hit the bar as much as you want without anyone thinking your a lush...... everyone understands....your best friend just got married. And most likely, all the singles are at the bar anyways especially during the slow dances.
5. Finally, you and all your "new" single friends hit the town for the AFTER party in your hot outfits. You dont have to ask permission or go home early or remain flirting with any lame wedding attendees!
